Locations shared on Google Maps now have a battery life.
If you share your location with family or friends using Google Maps, they are able to calculate how much time it will take you to reach them. Location sharing helps to keep track of your family and friends even if the battery of their phone dies.
I have found this very helpful when my children are on a school bus returning from a school trip or a game. It has helped me calculate accurately how much time I have before I have to go pick them up.
If you are stuck in traffic going to meet up with friends, sharing your location lets them know if they should go ahead order food.
Google added location sharing to Google maps in 2017.
